Motion Capture used in ballet

In cooperation with the Peter Schaufuss Ballet, CAVI has developed a showcase within the field of ballet based on a number of experiments in using motion capture equipment in which particular attention has been paid to various ways of using particle systems controlled by the dancer’s movements.

Dancers from the Peter Schaufuss Ballet worked in CAVI on the research of different technological and aesthetic possibilities when using IT in a dance context. A series of investigations looking into   the use of realtime interaction based on technologies like Motion Capture and different cameratypes were realised. The balletdancer gets the possibility to be in control of / or influence the digital scenography in realtime, resulting in surprising results and new strategies towards preparing and realising a performance.
